Song of the Moment: Cage The Elephant - Shake Me Down
Good song, sad video - not what I expected from Cage The Elephant. From their new album Thank You, Happy Birthday.

Hellogoodbye - Would It Kill You?
I have a list of dream jobs. Essentially, if I had the opportunity to do these things in life I think I would be happy. One of them would be radio DJ. I had the privilege of doing this in college for a couple years and loved it. Exposure to new music, sharing that music, and having a blast in the studio it was the best. Nowadays I get exposure to new music through following bands, seeing who they are touring with, and of all places NPR. I love listening to music, driving with it, running with it, even sometimes just sitting and enjoying a good album. This brings me to my first review:
This album is a different sound from their first studio album, Zombies!Aliens!Vampires!Dinosaurs! There is less of a sound that it was using a the drum machine function on a Casio keyboard and less auto tuned voices. Don't get me wrong, I love bands that utilize digital sounds and the Moog. The sound of their original release is not lost. Listening you can definitely tell this is Hellogoodbye with the distinct vocals of band lead, Forrest Kline. The sound is more mellow, invoking a chill poppy mood. Newcomers to the band are not going to be turned away with abrupt changes in melody or surprising changes between tracks. The album as a whole is well put together and recommended for those that like the sounds of the more recent alternative bands. The album was released November 9th, 2010 but no singles have been featured on the local stations. I only found this album through a venture on a Wikipedia trail and realized that they had put out a new album. Take them as you will and here is a taste, the third track on their album: When We First Met.

Race Results
Saturday was the Virginia is for Lovers 14k and I received my results almost immediately. I'm really liking these chipped races. You know your exact time from when you crossed the starting line to the finish, and you don't need to rush to get across the starting line. It was a pretty big event. There were about 3,500 other people in the race. I started out strong, but about mile four my legs didn't want to stride anymore and slowed down a bit. The route was really flat but since it was still early morning there was ice on parts of the course. Sorry no pictures yet. More to come later.

Jeopardy Test
Well, the time came and passed for me to take the Jeopardy online test. It was a lot. Easier than I was expecting. There was one question related to computer security. When it came I thought I should know this right off the top of my head.it came eventually but c'mon that was my undergrad and I used the term at work probably 30 minutes before taking the test. It was fun, but we'll see if they actually call me back for this.

Title
Decided to change the title of the blog. The original title and description was from a blog idea that I had a couple years ago. It was going to be a blog of all the tasty root beers that I ran into on my travels. So when I went to a new place in the country I would seek out the local breweries and try the house root beer and give my little review. I never made a post about this but it would have included Saranac Root Beer from upstate NY, or what the local brew pub was making. Overall my favorite is still Widmer Brother's Root Beer. Anyways, changing the name so it's a little more friendly.

Virginia is for Lovers
So I just signed up for my first race of 2011. I'll be doing the Virginia is for Lovers 14k. A race where you can run as a couple or by yourself. I'll be running stag. I tried doing this one last year, but didn't register in time. I thought I could register same day but the race was full and so I supported as a race mom. I might even do a tri some time this year as well. We'll have to see how that one pans out.
